A Houston father is under arrest after police say he took his son, tried to run over the boy's mother, then kidnapped her.

Houston police say around 6:30am Tuesday the man showed up at Cecilia Corana's apartment on Covington in southwest Houston. While trying to take his 8-month-old son, he hit Corana with a car then forced her into it.

From there, police say he took the baby to Corana's mother's home on Bissonnet. Then, as officers were preparing to issue an Amber Alert for the boy, they spotted the suspect and Corana driving around in a different car.

The man was taken into custody. Corana was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

"We're looking at possible charges of aggravated assault with deadly weapon given the fact that he struck the female with the car, and we're looking at possible kidnapping since he took the female as well," said Victor Senties with HPD.

Police say Corana wasn't seriously injured. The baby is in CPS custody while this investigation is ongoing.
