FBI: Man kidnapped in El Paso safe in NM

ALBUQUERQUE, NM

FBI spokesman Frank Fisher says in a news release that the man told authorities he escaped from at least two kidnappers after they fell asleep at a travel center east of Albuquerque on Sunday morning. The man called authorities, and state police arrested two suspects.

The FBI is involved in the investigation, and Fisher says federal charges are possible if the man's story of being kidnapped is substantiated.

Neither the alleged kidnappers nor victim were immediately identified.

The man was reportedly kidnapped from El Paso on Saturday night and forced to drive his car north into New Mexico.
