Suspect leads police on chase through two counties

HOUSTON

The chase started in the area of West Orem and South Post Oak when an HPD officer noticed an expired paper plate and then tried to pull the driver over. That's when police say the suspect took off.

HPD says at times, the driver in the SUV was traveling over 100 miles per hour trying to get away from police.

Authorities say the chase lasted about 30 minutes as the suspect drove around Houston's south side, then took off to the 610 South Loop, Highway 288 south and then all the way past Rosharon where Brazoria County sheriff's deputies put out spike strips. The driver lost control and crashed into a concrete wall.

He was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured during the chase.

The suspect had a felony warrant and they believe that may be why he took off.
