Trial of man accused in Texas rapes resumes

EDNA, TX

Testimony in the trial of Billy Joe Harris resumed on Monday. Harris has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. His attorney says Harris suffers from multiple personality disorder. Prosecutors were expected to rest their case on Monday.

The 54-year-old Harris is being tried for the alleged rape of a disabled woman in Edna, about 100 miles southwest of Houston.

Authorities say DNA samples also link Harris, dubbed the "Twilight Rapist," to five other assaults or attempted assaults over two years in Central and Southeast Texas. He has charges pending in those cases.
