Woman dies after SUV plunges into lake

THE WOODLANDS, TX The 59-year-old woman, whose identity has yet to be released, was pronounced dead at 1:50pm on Wednesday.

Crews pulled the blue Toyota Rav 4 she was driving from Lake Robbins near the southbound feeder lanes of I-45 shortly after 5pm on Tuesday. CPR was performed on her and responders were able to get a weak pulse.

Investigators say she was driving along the I-45 feeder road just before 4:30pm when for some reason, she veered off the road, jumped the curb, hit construction pipes and rolled about 100 feet into the water.

Five witnesses tried to jump into the water to get to her, but they couldn't because the windows on her vehicle were rolled up.

Authorities say they still don't know what caused her to lose control of her vehicle.
