A high-speed car chase through southeast Houston ended with the arrest of the suspected driver. The chase started around 1:30pm after someone called the Webster Police Department to report suspects allegedly burglarizing vehicles at a movie theater off Interstate 45.

When police arrived, the suspects got into a red PT Cruiser and fled, sparking the chase that exceeded 100 miles per hour at times.

The driver of the car headed northbound on the Gulf Freeway before exiting on South Loop East then getting into the westbound lanes of Interstate 10.

The suspect eventually exited off the freeway, just east of downtown Houston, and headed toward a residential area, where the driver and at least one passenger bailed on foot.

Aerial views showed two people running through an apartment complex in the 5300 block of Coke before they were detained by police. However, officers at the scene weren't sure how many people were inside vehicle during the 30-minute chase.

Only the suspect driver was taken into custody, police said.
