Huge rocking chair stolen in San Antonio

August 25, 2009 9:19:09 AM PDT
Thieves in San Antonio made off with an 8-foot tall rocking chair carved by an artist who says the item is part of the neighborhood. Buddy Rasmussen says the wooden rocking chair weighs as much as 300 pounds and is 4 feet wide.

Rasmussen says it took him more than a week to carve the chair, which he estimates is worth $2,000. He says the theft happened Saturday morning.

The massive chair, sometimes used by children for playing, was in front of the Gevers Street Studio.

Rasmussen says he'd like the thieves to pay for his artwork, or return it.
