Woman burned alive in fiery wreck

HOUSTON Authorities say the driver ran a stop sign on Hempstead near Brittmoore, and lost control of her car. The vehicle then caught fire after it crashed into huge commercial lawnmowers in a nearby field.

"She was unable to get out. She was unconscious and the fire got too hot so the rescue had to back off, called the fire department. By the time they got herem she was dead," said Deputy C.J. Meaux with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the woman was burned beyond recognition. Work is underway to identify her.
