WHITE PLAINS, NY (KTRK) -- A police officer says he is not a hero even though he is caught on video pulling an unconscious man from a car after a fiery crash.
New York state police officer John Vescio was at a gas station in White Plains when a car slammed into a gas pump. The pump caught fire, then Vescio ran in and pulled the driver from his car and dragged him to safety.
"You could see the way his legs were tucked under by the seat," said Vescio. "His seat belt was on. He was pretty much helpless."
Vescio says he visited the unidentified man and says he and his family are grateful for what he did.
