HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- We started off cool Wednesday morning with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s. That won't be the same Thursday morning. Increasing humidity levels will help us start out in the steamy 70s, then rise into the middle and upper 80s. Rain chances will be low.

When can we expect temperatures to really cool off again?

There is another Pacific front coming through Texas this weekend, but we have to wait until after the weekend to get a more significant dose of cooler air back in Southeast Texas. Our next cold front is penciled in for Wednesday of next week, and that one should drop highs into the 60s and lows into the 40s.

What can we expect for the weekend?

Rain chances will increase to 40% late Friday into Saturday morning as the next Pacific cool front blows in. Temperatures will start in the mid 60s and warm into the upper 70s. Sunday's rain chance drops to 30% with a similar temperature range.

What are you tracking in the tropics?

Rafael made landfall in western Cuba Wednesday afternoon. Now the storm will track north making it into the Gulf of Mexico as a category 2 hurricane. There is a lot of uncertainty to where the storm could track and how strong it could be, but the entire gulf Coast of the U.S. and Mexico should continue monitoring the situation. It does look like conditions will be a bit more hostile for Rafael in the Gulf, so we anticipate weakening as it tracks through the Gulf. No hurricane on record has ever made landfall in Texas during the month of November, and even if Rafael were to track toward Texas, it would likely get shredded by wind shear into a low-end tropical storm or tropical depression. Head to our daily Tropical Update page for a complete look at what we're covering in the tropics.
