HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It was another very chilly morning with much of SE Texas dropping to freezing or below. Temperatures Tuesday afternoon should rebound into the upper 40s/low 50s under mostly sunny skies.
Wednesday morning will be another chilly one with temperatures near freezing. South of I-10, we could see temperatures stay just above freezing. Clouds are expected to move in Wednesday which should limit highs to the mid 40s.
Thursday will bring widespread rain to SE Texas and should bring wintry precipitation to the northern parts of the state near Dallas/Fort Worth.
The northern half of SE Texas could still drop below freezing Wednesday morning but Houston and south could stay just above freezing. Low temps stay in the mid to upper 30s through the weekend at least. Be sure to bundle up and prepare for the cold.
Most of us probably won't see any wintry precipitation. But it now appears that our northwest counties will have a very small chance of some ice Friday morning. Temps may be below the freezing mark for a short period of time north of a College Station to Lake Livingston line. At this time it doesn't look like the metro Houston area will see any ice but we'll keep an eye on it. Also, a major winter storm is possible over the northern part of the state Thursday into Friday. If you're planning to head to Dallas, you might be dealing with ice and several inches of snow.
Temperatures will gradually warm up through the week, though it'll be slow. By this weekend though, temperatures should finally climb to above 50 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will both be cool with some sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 30s and afternoon highs in the mid-upper 50s.
