HOUSTON -- In a tradition dating back to 1959, the Valley Lodge Trail Riders are making their way to Houston.

The 85 riders began their journey in Brookshire last Saturday. They'll travel 73 miles in all.

Rodeo Houston trail rides history

Thursday, after a brief stop along the route to enjoy a Tex-Mex meal, which is catered annually by Molina's Cantina, the riders, horses, and wagons continued on toward Houston. They'll to meet up with 12 other trail rides in Memorial Park on Friday.

On Saturday, they'll all mosey into downtown to kick off the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with this weekend's rodeo parade.
