Alpine
Framed by Hancock Hill and the picturesque Paisano Peak in the distance, the drive into Alpine alone is worth the trek to West Texas. Celebrated in the final scenes of Boyhood, Richard Linklater's nostalgic nod to his home state, the Highway 67 turnoff takes you to Marfa, Alpine, Marathon, and, eventually, Big Bend. At Alpine's Sul Ross University, the beautiful, 100-year-old campus is the perfect place to catch a West Texas sunset on your first night in town.
