A man accused of carrying out two violent attacks last week had a previous violent charge dismissed after completing a mental health diversion program five months ago, records show.
He has eight stitches in his head, a jaw fracture and suffered internal bleeding. But he doesn't know what happened to him.
"He was one of a kind. I mean, to know him, you have to love him. He was an easygoing person," the victim's niece said. The victim suffered severe head trauma, slipped into a coma, and was not expected to recover.

The victim, who police have yet to identify to the public, was found lying on the sidewalk along Seawall Boulevard with critical head and face injuries on Monday.
