HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 69-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife are in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times by a woman in southeast Houston, according to investigators.

The suspect, who's been identified as Javon Latrece Alix, faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly "used a knife to stab two strangers."

Houston Police Department officers said they responded to an apartment complex near Broadway Street and Rockhill Street at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

"(The suspect) actually got a hold of them, stabbed the older male twice in the stomach, once in the back, and stabbed the other lady in the stomach three times," HPD Lt. R. Willkens said.

According to HPD, before the attack, the suspect also allegedly threatened a man outside of a nearby convenience store, but the man was able to run away.

A woman is accused of stabbing a married couple and chasing after others with a knife in southeast Houston on Wednesday night, according to police.

Video obtained by ABC13 shows the suspect approaching the store with a large knife while people lock themselves inside.

Detectives say she then went to the apartment complex and encountered a mother and her child, also threatening them.

"(The suspect told) a lady and her 7-year-old child she was going to stab them if they didn't run," Willkens said.

The pair managed to get away, and HPD says the woman then approached a group of four people and is accused of stabbing the man and woman multiple times.

Others who managed to escape tell ABC13 it was a very scary experience.

"By the time we got to the gate, she was charging at us with the big knife, chasing everybody, we were telling everybody, get in the house, get in the house, and then she ran after them intentionally and went up there and stabbed them," said Cornelius Clark, who managed to get away.

Clark said she had to run for her life.

"And she chased us with the knife, she started charging, she was like on my back," Clark said.

Police at the scene said they were looking into her mental state.

"She was obviously in some kind of crisis. We're not sure. She's telling us, after we actually took her into custody, she's on seizure medications or something like that, so don't know where all that's going to go just yet," Willkens said.

Court documents show Alix is on probation for assaulting a peace officer and has a criminal history, including harassment of a public servant and evading arrest.
