Richwood police said the UTV was traveling at high speed before it rolled over, ejecting and killing a 33-year-old passenger.
The driver was allegedly driving drunk when he slammed into another vehicle. Police said an 11-month-old baby in that second vehicle was thrown from the car and died.
Police say two people from the suspect vehicle initially fled the scene. A passenger was found running along the road and taken into custody. Then, the suspected driver returned and was detained.
The family says the mom and her five-year-old daughter suffered severe burns and broken bones. Both are currently in the burn unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Police said a mother was stopped on the shoulder due to a blown tire when another driver, possibly intoxicated, crashed into her, injuring her 5-year-old and killing her 3-year-old.
The fiery crash claimed the life of Harris County Pct. 7 Deputy Constable Jennifer Chavis in 2022 while she was responding to a call about a drunk driver who was sentenced to life in prison.
