According to the Houston Police Department, 27-year-old Enrique Acevedo Barocio was driving a blue Ford Expedition at a high rate of speed when he hit a woman and several parked cars near 2400 Pierce St. at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials said the woman was trying to cross the road after leaving a nearby club when the crash happened. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene, authorities said.

The identity of the 32-year-old victim is still pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials explained.

Authorities said Barocio showed signs of intoxication. Sgt. Barrow of HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division reported that Barocio was leaving a different club before the crash.

After consulting with the Harris County District Office, Barocio was arrested and taken to the Harris County Jail, HPD said, where he is charged with intoxication manslaughter.
