World Series 2023: Schedule, postseason bracket, standings
The 2023 MLB playoffs are finally here after a season full of surprises.
This postseason provided our second look at the league's new 12-team format, which boasts an additional wild-card spot in both the American League and National League.
The Texas Rangerscame out hot against theTampa Bay Raysin the Wild Card despite falling to the No. 5 seed on the final day of the regular season,winning the series 2-0 and advancing to play the No. 1-seededBaltimore Oriolesin the ALDS. TheAL Central championMinnesota Twinsalso swept their wild-card foe, theToronto Blue Jays, and is taking on the reigning World Series championHouston Astrosin the next round.
The Arizona Diamondbacks ousted the Brewersto advance to the NLDS to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Philadelphia Philliesdominated theMiami Marlins in front of a raucous home crowd.
The Rangers secured the first ALCS spot with a 3-0 sweep of the Orioles and faced the Astros, who knocked out the Twins in four games. The Diamondbacks swept the Dodgers to advance to the NLCS, where they meet the Phillies, who bounced the Braves in four for a second straight year.
It took seven games to eliminate the Astros, but the Rangers are headed to the 2023 World Series and will face the Diamondbacks, who ousted the Phillies with a Game 7 win.
