Same man responsible for two sexual assaults in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX (KTRK) -- There's serious concern among families living at an apartment complex in The Woodlands where a rapist has struck twice in just over a month.

"I'm very concerned," Marley Alexander said. "I have a two-year-old. My window has already been broken. My car has been broken into."

"I'm worried because I have two teenaged daughters," Stephanie Martinez said.

The first rape in the Trailpoint at The Woodlands Apartments was on September 16 around 1am. The second was October 13 between 1am and 3am.

That victim spoke to a reporter just a day after she was attacked.

"First thing I knew, there was someone on top of me. I didn't hear anyone come in. Nothing," she said.

Investigators believe it's the same suspect, described as a white or Hispanic man, between 18 and 24 with a slight accent. In both cases he got in through an unlocked door on the first floor. Last week, it was a rear patio door the victim says has never locked properly. And both times, he used a bed sheet to restrain the women.

"He put it over my head, and then pulled from behind trying to strangle me. I was very scared for my life and I just prayed the entire time."

Management sent residents a letter last week urging them to take extra safety precautions, but it didn't mention the rapes.

Monday night, they met with residents, and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. We were not allowed inside. A MCSO deputy who identified himself as the new courtesy officer who will be living in the complex asked us to leave the property, saying management didn't want any media on property or in the meeting.

Stephanie Martinez and her daughter Sarai want to see more security patrol. Especially because of the easy access from the jogging trails that run alongside the neighborhood.

"It's really concerning that anyone can just enter it, and do really bad stuff," Sarai Martinez explains.

Marley Alexander also wants to see more security, but it's something she's not holding out for.

"I certainly hope so. I'm just not super-duper hopeful for it. That costs a lot of money."

The second victim told investigators the suspect was wearing black work pants, a black t-shirt, and white tennis shoes.
