HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman is charged with murder, accused of killing a man at a bar he owned in west Harris County over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a shooting at a bar along the Katy Freeway and found the owner of the bar had been shot.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the bar owner as 48-year-old Hussein Ali, who he says was taken to the hospital and died.
According to the sheriff, the alleged shooter, Latocha Muckleroy, was still at the scene and arrested.
Gonzalez originally said Ali and Muckleroy had a previous dating relationship. However, in an update on Monday, the sheriff said there was actually no connection between the two, adding that Muckleroy was verbally fighting with her ex-boyfriend in the lounge's patio area.
The ex-boyfriend, Gonzalez said, went into the main lounge area to avoid Muckleroy, who allegedly went to her car to retrieve a pistol. That's when, according to the sheriff, Ali, the bar owner, tried to prevent Muckleroy from going back into the lounge, and she shot him.
Muckleroy was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with Ali's murder, Gonzalez said.
