Suspect pleads guilty to conspiracy to commit arson for 2020 fire of Houston's Bar 5015: Records
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One of the four suspects accused of intentionally setting a Houston bar on fire has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson, according to court documents.
Records show that on Tuesday, Miziah Shepherd's plea admits he took part in planning and carrying out the arson that occurred on June 12, 2020, along with several conspirators in exchange for payment.

The explosion sent debris hundreds of feet in every direction and destroyed a large portion of the business. Four men are seen carrying 5-gallon containers and dumping the contents onto a wooden deck outside the building. One of the men ignited the liquid, which caused the explosion around 5 a.m.
Documents state Shepherd allegedly helped purchase gas cans, went to the bar with others, poured gasoline on the deck and entrance, and fled after the fire was lit. He reportedly received payment for his role later on.

With this plea, Shepherd faces five to 20 years in federal prison, up to a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. He also agrees to pay full restitution to victims and forfeit any assets tied to the crime, as well as give up most of his rights to appeal or challenge the conviction.
In return for his guilty plea, the government will dismiss the remaining charges at sentencing, according to documents.
