Beach parking permit among requirements this 'Jeep Weekend': Officials

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- As the annual "Jeep Weekend" event returns to the Bolivar Peninsula, county officials are reminding eventgoers of a few rules.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office announced that anyone who wants access to the beaches must purchase a $10 parking permit sticker.

The stickers will be available for purchase at area businesses and at the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.

Other rules include a 15-mph speed limit, no littering, no glass containers, no bonfires, and no reckless driving.

The sheriff's office also said pets must be leashed.

Those who plan to attend can access the beach through S. Monhouse Drive and exit through S. Stingaree Drive. Other beach access points will be closed, according to the GCSO.

Jeep Weekend runs until Sunday.
