Pride Houston Parade 2026 winds through downtown, celebrating love and resilience

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The 2026 Pride Houston 365 Parade celebrated its 48th year as it marched down through downtown on Saturday evening.

The annual event is normally held during June to align with Pride Month, but severe weather led organizers to push the event back to Saturday.

The parade started at Smith and Lamar Streets, then wound through downtown Houston to end at Milam and Pease.

More than 80 organizations, floats, and entities joined in this year's lineup.

The official parade theme for 2026 was "Limitless," which represents expansion, elevation, and breaking boundaries across community, culture, and impact, according to organizers.

The parade coverage kicked off with a burst of music from the Houston Pride Band, who led the floats through the downtown streets.

Pride's grand marshals made their debut in the parade route after their rescheduling. The grand marshals were revealed at an event in May, honoring a range of community members and causes.

Several government officials also participated in the parade, including Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's Office and the City of Houston, whose float featured a replica of the Houston skyline. Other city icons participated with their own floats, including the Houston Rockets and the Houston Zoo.

ABC13, the official media partner of Pride Houston 365, also joined in on the festivities, with Eyewitness News reporters and producers marching along with the ABC13 news truck.

What is the history of Pride in Houston?

The first Houston Gay Pride Parade took place in 1979, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the raid on New York's Stonewall Inn.

The event is hosted annually by the volunteer-led, non-profit Pride Houston 365, which hosts events year-round.

The 2025 parade was attended by an estimated 200,000 people, according to organizers.

The non-profit also says Houston's festival and parade are the largest Pride celebration in the South.
