Woman says she was attacked in her car while stopped at a red light in downtown Houston
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A northwest Houston woman said she was followed, then attacked in downtown, and she doesn't understand why.
Sol, 25, is bruised, and her car is smashed up.
"Confusion, anger, concern," Sol said. "Like, what did I do?"
She said she was followed by two strangers on Monday around 2 a.m.
Eyewitness News agreed to hide her full name because she worries her attackers will find her.
"The flashing was continuous. I thought they were going to start crashing into me at any point," she said. "They started revving their car toward me and everything."
Sol said the white Nissan chased her through Midtown and downtown.
Then, she stopped at a red light at Louisiana St. and McKinney St.
That's when she said a man, who was in the passenger seat, got out of the car and punched through her passenger window.
The female driver, she says, crashed into her side of the car, then got out, too.
"She grabbed my wallet, my keys, my phone," she said. "She started cussing me out. She threw my phone really far from me."
Sol said the man and woman used a baseball bat to hit her and her car. Then, they left.
"I was just left in loneliness and pain and just trying to figure out what had happened to me," she explained.
She said a passing cyclist called 911. Then, she found her phone on the ground and called her sister.
"I answer, and she's like, 'They got me, they beat me up, I feel like I'm going to die,'" her sister said.
Now, Sol is left with physical, mental, and financial pain.
Her first car, which she spent years saving up to buy, is destroyed.
"This could have been worse. She could have died. We don't know if the person was so angry as to kill her," her sister said.
"It's definitely life-changing, almost," Sol said. "I just want to share the awareness for any solo drivers."
Houston police said they are looking for surveillance video of what happened.
