Westbound lanes of US-290 shut down at Eldridge due to overturned 18-wheeler, authorities say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Drivers along the Northwest Freeway are being urged to seek alternative routes after an overturned 18-wheeler shut down all westbound lanes at Eldridge on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

The Cy-Fair Fire Department shared that emergency units are working to clear the scene, but the westbound lanes will be completely shut down in the meantime.

Images shared by authorities showed the overturned 18-wheeler, pallets scattered across the lanes, and tire parts over the barricade.

Details on what led to the crash or if anyone was injured were not immediately available.
