FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Fort Bend County woman tells ABC13 she's finally received a resolution from the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority after a two-year fight over a technological mishap.

"I was just frustrated," said Latoya Fontenot.

Fontenot, who told Eyewitness News she has an EZ TAG, says the problem repeatedly occurred because the toll road's equipment repeatedly mistook an "O" on her license plate for a "0."

The mishap, which led the system to believe Fontenot was using the toll road without paying, was confirmed by the agency to ABC13 this afternoon.

Fontenot said the problem ultimately led to her having to call the agency multiple times a month in hopes of a resolution that never came.

"I had to call every time I received the notice," she said. "I'd have to just go back-and-forth with the representatives (for two years)."

Fontenot said the problem was finally resolved when she recently told the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority she'd reach out to the media for help with the issue.

She said she received a resolution via email this week.

"Because of your outreach, we are implementing a new process to manually review and address license plates that may be incorrectly interpreted during the image review process," stated the email.

The agency also stated that it will streamline some of its customer service practices so that future cases can be resolved more quickly.
