WASHINGTON -- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may rule on Tumblr, but she seems to hold selfies in contempt.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi snapped a pic with the ladies of the court for National Women's History month Wednesday. Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor are smiling but Ginsburg stares at the camera like it's the majority opinion she dissented in the Hobby Lobby case.
Ginsburg has become an inadvertent social media star in recent years. A law student started a Tumblr feed called "Notorious R.B.G" in 2013. It quickly became an internet meme and spawned dozens of T-shirts. The justice did originally have to ask her clerks to explain the notorious nickname.
Ginsburg sparked another online meme in January when she fell asleep at the State of the Union address. Ginsburg herself said it was the result of a little too much wine.
The justice admits to NPR's Nina Totenberg that she owns many of those T-shirts. There are also "You can't handle the Ruth t-shirts."
Her fame is not limited to apparel. There are also Ginsburg mugs, a Ginsburg tattoo, and Ginsburg birthday cards.
The Supreme Court Justice has also inspired an opera and an acoustic song based on her dissent in Hobby Lobby.
Ginsburg is also the subject of memes on Facebook, Buzzfeed, and Twitter.
She turned 82 on Sunday and has served on the court for 21 years.
