HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say they had to use spike strips to end two separate chases overnight.
Both cases involved drugs, according to police.
The first chase happened on Airline around 11:30pm in north Houston. The driver of a Mustang took off when police tried to stop him for a traffic violation. Officers got him with the spike strips and he ended up hitting a pole and a tree. Police arrested the driver and say he had drugs.
The second chase happened around 5:30am on Bissonnet in southwest Houston when officers say they spotted a drug deal going down. They say they chased the suspects for a short time before disabling the vehicle with some spike strips.
The spikes caused the driver to crash. A police cruiser also ran over the spikes and lost two tires. Two men and a woman were arrested. Police say they found a large amount of marijuana in the car.
