'Saddest dog in the world' finds temporary foster home
'The saddest dog in the world' has found a temporary foster home after a heartbreaking photo of the pooch went viral.

TORONTO, Canada -- A pooch nicknamed "the saddest dog in the world" has found a temporary foster home after a heartbreaking photo of the dog went viral.

The photo was posted on Facebook on Oct. 24 by Mighty Mutts, a rescue shelter and dog training organization based in Toronto, Canada.

According to Mighty Mutts, the Labrador mix named Lana had been in a foster program most of her life. The organization had rescued her when she was just a tiny puppy.

When she was 5-months-old, she was finally adopted into what should have been a forever home.

But unfortunately, it didn't work out.

Lana was so sad at being handed back to the kennel, she was unresponsive for a whole day. She was so brokenhearted, she even refused to go on walks. The shelter said it was almost like her world shut down.

But after Lana's story was posted on Facebook, the 1.5-year-old pooch was taken into a temporary foster home and appears to be in much better spirits.

Mighty Mutts says the shelter has received so many inquiries about adopting Lana, its website is crashing. Looks like Lana is well on her way to finding a forever home.

If you have inquiries regarding Lana, you can email the shelter at info@mightymutt.ca.
