BOSTON, MA (KTRK) -- The man living with ALS who inspired the Ice Bucket Challenge is now a first-time father.
WCVB reports that Pete Frates and his wife, Julie, welcomed a baby girl into the world Sunday morning. Lucy Fitzgerald Frates weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz.
Pete Frates is the former Boston College baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS two years ago at age 27. He now lives in Massachusetts.
Earlier this year, he dared a few of his friends to try the Ice Bucket Challenge. Since then, it has become an Internet phenomenon, raising tens of millions of dollars for the ALS Association.
