William Reece indicted in murders of Cain, Smither
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A grand jury in Galveston County has decided there's enough evidence to charge William Reece with the murders of Jessica Cain and Laura Smither.
Jessica Cain, who vanished in 1997, was found in March in southeast Houston, buried in a field off East Orem Drive, 19 years after she disappeared.

Reece had been a suspect in Cain's death when she went missing after a dinner with friends, but he was never charged.
The grand jury will also hear the case of Laura Smither.
Smither was 12 years old when she didn't come home after a morning jog in 1997.

Smither's body was found a few weeks later. It was the same year Cain disappeared.
"So many families go year upon year looking for their children with no answers at all, so the amazing people that stand behind us is a testament to what happened in this district this year," Gaye Smither, Laura's mother, said.
Reece is also linked to the death of Kelly Cox who was from north Texas. Her bones were dug up in Brazoria County last march. He has not been charged with her murder.
"There are a lot of faces who aren't here today who put a lot of tears and a lot of hours into this investigation from other agencies," Galveston County District Attorney Jack Roady said. "There is no way that we would be where we are without their work."
Right now, Reece is in Oklahoma, charged with the murder of a fourth woman -- Tiffany Johnston. She also went missing in the 90s.
He will not be in court today.
