HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The mystery deepens in one west Harris County neighborhood after two family members were found dead in their garage.
Around 5:42pm Wednesday, detectives received a welfare check call for a home in the 15000 block of La Mancha Drive.
They were told no one in the home had been heard from since last Thursday, and family members were very concerned.
When they arrived, they noticed a foul odor coming from the garage. They soon discovered an adult male and adult female dead inside the garage.
This is not a total surprise to neighbor Alexes Llamos, who heard gunshots last Thursday. "First round was three times, Pah, pah pah! The second round one time. Pah! Third round two times more. Pah pah!!" describe Llamos.
Llamos went outside to check out the scene. However, he didn't see anything unusual on La Mancha that night. No cars, no open doors, no unusual traffic. So, he went back to his house, and back to sleep. Life went on until Wednesday's worried visit from a family friend. That prompted a call to the Sheriff's department, and soon, the bodies were found inside.
So far investigators would only say a man and a woman were found inside the family garage. The car that was towed away from the garage was punctured with bullet holes. However, it's the unknown that has neighbors worried.
"I can not believe it," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified. "It makes all of us nervous to the fact that we don't know who did it. We have no clue."
Real estate sources tell Eyewitness News that the home was sold to a young Chinese man and his mother. The deal closed on June 30th. The two, with possibly other relatives, only moved in weeks ago. By all accounts, the family was settling in, until the gunfire last week, and the homicide investigation now.
There is no official cause of death yet, but investigators are treating their deaths as a homicide.
