HCSO: Woman found dead in home died around Thanksgiving

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities say a man has been living with the body of his elderly mother inside a northwest Harris County home since her death around Thanksgiving.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies were asked to come to a house in the 3800 block of Pintan. When officers arrived, they were greeted by a man who told them his mother was dead inside.

The woman's other son, who also lived at the home, told authorities that his mother died sometime around Thanksgiving.

Neighbors say they used to see the woman on her walker, but the last time they saw her was a while ago. Homicide detectives and a mental health unit are on the scene interviewing the son who was living in the house with his mom's body.

Investigators say they can't say how she died at this point because of the state of her body. They hope to know more once the Institute of Forensic Science can determine cause of death, and possible time period of death.

There's no word on charges at this point.
