Actress Donna Douglas, a 1960s TV icon who played Elly May Clampett on 'The Beverly Hillbillies,' died on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015. She was 81.

Donna Douglas, actress best known for her role as Elly May Clampett on "The Beverly Hillbillies" TV show, has died at 81, according to ABC affiliate WBRZ.



Family members told WBRZ that Douglas passed away Thursday surrounded by her friends and family at her Louisiana home.



Douglas appeared in all nine seasons of the iconic 1960's TV show, "The Beverly Hillbillies." When she left, she became a successful real estate agent in Los Angeles.



Most recently, she spent a lot of her time speaking to church groups in her home state of Louisiana.
