COMANCHE, TX -- Authorities say a trailer loaded with fireworks has exploded near a Texas high school, killing one person and injuring three other people who were setting up for a Fourth of July show.
The accident happened Thursday near a baseball field in Comanche, about 100 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Local fire department spokesman Lt. Marcus Nettleton says it's unclear what caused the explosion in the trailer, which was hooked to a pickup truck.
Members of the Kiwanis Club were setting up the fireworks for a Friday celebration. Nettleton says one club member died at the scene, and three others are hospitalized with serious injuries. Their names haven't been released.
The club has organized the fireworks show for the past 24 years.
State and federal authorities are investigating.
