A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near American Canyon, CA in Napa County early this morning, causing significant damage to the Bay Area. The event was recorded by the USGS, featured in the map above.

The recent earthquake in Napa is the largest one to strike the Bay Area since the devastating Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. Though widely remembered for interrupting the '89 World Series, the Loma Prieta earthquake caused significant damage to the central coast of California, killed 63 people and injured more than 3,700 others.
