HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If a 150-mile bike ride isn't your speed, maybe a 45-minute spin class is: Revolution Studio is raising money to fight multiple sclerosis and help a special instructor who is facing a challenge of her own.
28-year-old DK teaches spin seven days a week at Revolution Studio, but her biggest challenge is not on the bike, it's a personal battle.
"I would turn my head quickly and it was hard for myself to acclimate, and I noticed that I had a slight loss of balance," DK explained.
Less than two months ago, DK received a diagnosis that would change her life forever.
"All I heard was first signs of MS, and I have no questions, I know exactly what MS is," she said.
For someone whose career is all about movement and fitness, the news could have been devastating, but DK is using her diagnosis to inform and inspire others. Revolution Studio is hosting a charity ride at the studio during the BP MS 150 to raise money for the National MS Society, with DK leading the pack. The class is $50 per bike.
"On Saturday, we won't just be riding for me, we will be riding for every single person who cannot physically ride, because we physically can," she said. "The gift is, you have a choice, to deal with that situation however you choose to deal with it."
For those taking the class, it's a small way to give back to the teacher who has helped these riders push through their own uphill battles.
"She was an inspiration before, she's an inspiration now, she'll always be an inspiration to me," Rider Kate Ballou explains.
