Houston aims to remain resilient, but boost security in wake of Orlando mass shooting
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- People in Houston's Montrose area are understandably very concerned about their security after the Orlando attacks, but law enforcement is vowing to do what it can to prevent a tragedy in the Bayou City.

Houston's LGBT community is still in fear after the massacre in Orlando. At rallies and clubs, there is one thing those in Montrose want to see right away.
Felix Perez said, "I am definitely concerned going forward. I think that there should definitely be much more security at these vigils, at more events, at all the Pride Parade festivals, the bars, the clubs."
That is exactly what local law enforcement is planning.

Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 1's Alan Rosen said, "We are having more officers that are going to be at some of these clubs that are in the Montrose area, we already provide security for a lot of them and we have been talking to management about increasing our presence there."
It may not be enough to completely wipe away the fear that now exists in the Montrose area, but that fear is not enough to keep the LGBT community locked behind doors.
Perez said, "I'm scared, but I am going to go because it is the exact opposite of what they want us to do."

Law enforcement officers also want people to on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously, and if they see something to call police.
