Missing teen found safe following search

HIGHLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- A 15-year-old boy who was reported missing yesterday has been found at a home a few miles away, officials say.

Andrew Hays, age 15, from Highlands, Texas, went missing Thursday. It was thought that Andrew might have taken his kayak out to the San Jacinto River.

At about 10:30 a.m., Andrew was found safe at a location a few miles away from the search location. CPS officials are coming to the scene to evaluate Andrew's condition.

EquuSearch helped search the water this morning and recovered the boy's kayak just before 7 a.m. Dive team members had been called to the scene.
