HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Family and friends are looking for 27-year-old An Vinh Nguyen, who was last seen in northwest Harris County on March 31.
Loved ones say he left a friend's home at the Golden Bamboo II Apartments at 8125 Mills Road in the Willowbrook area. An Vinh's friend said he told him he was heading home to finish a paper for school. An Vinh is a student at the UH Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. That should have been about a 15-minute drive.
Loc Nguyen, the brother of An Vinh, spoke to Eyewitness News Wednesday. Loc said his brother's disappearance has left his family in agony. He said his grandma has cried every day since An Vinh went missing.
Loc said his family came from Vietnam for the American dream. Loc took Eyewitness News inside An Vinh's immaculately kept bedroom. His calendar showed a paper due on Saturday with a trip to Florida scheduled for Sunday.
An Vinh recently booked a flight to Fort Lauderdale. He was preparing to interview for a flight attendant job with Spirit Airlines. His paperwork along with the suit he just bought were untouched.
"Every day that passes by is critical for us," said Loc Nguyen. "We worry a lot. Every night comes, I don't know where my brother is. It's really hard."
An Vinh was last seen wearing a light yellow t-shirt and was last known to be driving an orange 2016 Jeep Renegade with a Texas license plate HJB-5077. He has short black hair, brown eyes, stands 5'6" tall and weighs about 140 pounds.
ABC13 Reporter Steve Campion also spoke with the last person who saw An Vinh. An Vinh's friend and co-worker, Bobby Johnson, said he has faith An Vinh will be found safe.
"All I want is God to find him. I want him to be okay. I want his family to be okay," said Johnson. "This is someone's child. This is someone's friend, my friend."
Johnson said An Vinh didn't show up to work Saturday morning at Ella Eye's in Tomball.
"He came to my apartment on Friday night to work on something for school. He made us fish tacos. He left my home about 10:30 to work on that paper," said Johnson. "I have a lot of anxiety about this whole situation. An Vinh is not somebody I work with. He is somebody I care about."
An Vinh's family shared cellphone records with Eyewitness News. His phone is now off. They showed his last text messaged with a number from New York. A man answered when ABC13 called the phone. He did not want to be identified. He told our reporter he hadn't met An Vinh in person. However, he wouldn't say how the two know each other.
An Vinh's family said his credit card and EZ Pass were last used on Thursday, March 30th.
