One injured in wreck involving HFD ambulance

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A wreck involving a Houston Fire EMS unit in northwest Houston has sent one person to the hospital.

The crash occurred this morning at the North Loop westbound at Ella.

HFD says a civilian struck the ambulance as it was returning to its station. The driver of that vehicle was transported to St. Joseph Hospital.

We are not yet certain of the extend of that person's injuries.

Traffic was getting through one right lane, creating a mess for travelers in the westbound lanes of the North Loop.

HPD is investigating the crash.
