DIY: Coffee Filter Wreath Kat Cosley shows you how to create your own coffee filter wreath

Coffee filters are good for much more than just making coffee! The good news; they're cheap, you can get 150 for a $1 at the dollar store which is about the amount you'll need for this project. We're going to make a wreath out of the filters, you will be surprised at how beautiful this turns out. I will warn you, though, it is a little time consuming so make sure you have plenty of time before you start this project.

You'll need:

Coffee filters (about 150)

Foam wreath (mine is 18in)

Hot glue

Spray Paint (optional)

Embellishments

Floral Wire

Ribbon

Directions:

The process is really simple, but it is a little lengthy. All you are going to do is gather one coffee filter in

your hand from the bottom and glue it to the foam wreath. I like to put the hot glue on the coffee filter

as opposed to the wreath. Continue doing this until the wreath is completely covered on the front and

sides. Make sure to glue the filters as close together as you can. For an 18 inch wreath you will need all

150 filters. You can leave the completed wreath all white or you can add color. I spray-painted mine

with metallic gold spray paint. To decorate, you can make it as simple or elaborate as you want. I

suggest looking outdoors for free decorations - get creative! I decided to use a tree branch with two

pine cones. I spray-painted only the pine cones in metallic gold for a pop of color. I added faux greenery

behind the branch. I used floral wire to attach the two together. At the bottom of the branch I added a

simple bow. I attached the entire piece to the wreath with floral wire, that way I can change the

embellishments with the seasons. To make the door hanger, Use a piece of smaller ribbon, loop it and

tie a knot. Hot glue it to the back, center of the wreath.
