Sheriff releases names of those punished for rancid cell

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office on Friday released the list of staffers disciplined by Sheriff Adrian Garcia. The list includes just 29 names, six fewer than initially announced. Among them are the two detention dergeants who've been indicted for paperwork inaccuracies in the case.

Both were fired as were four other jail supervisors. Twenty-three other jail staffers were suspended. Among the suspended staffers are 15 detention officers, one detention sergeant, four deputies and three sergeants.

ABC13 broke the news of mentally ill inmate Terry Goodwin's rancid cell conditions. The case was brought to us by a whistleblower inside the jail. According to the list released Friday and ABC13 reporting, our whistleblower has NOT been punished.
