CROSBY, TX (KTRK) -- The fire was just feet from residential property and trees overhead in the Newport neighborhood.
This fire started just before 8am, and it was confined to the gas line.
Contractors were digging and hit a two-inch line, according to the Crosby Fire Department. They are not sure why the line was hit, but say firefighters put a protective line of water on the backhoe that hit the gas line to make sure it didn't catch fire.
CenterPoint will need to work on the repair and investigate why the contractors hit the line.
