GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- Galveston expects 350,000 people to attend Mardi Gras this year, and for those involved, their hard work is year-round.
"We work on it all year. As soon as we finish here, next week, we will begin working on next year," says Johnny Lidstone.
Lidstone is part of the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius. They're known for their 11 magnificent floats and extraordinary costumes. This year, they celebrate their 30 years being part of Mardi Gras.
Lidstone has something else to celebrate. He and his father were honored with the 2015 George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award for their hard work and dedication to making Mardi Gras a success for Galveston.
"It means a whole lot. We are very honored to get that award," says Lidstone.
