HOUSTON -- Voted the Best Burger in Houston and winner of 'Chopped,' Executive Chef and Owner Justin Turner, from Bernie's Burger Bus shares his recipe for one of the most popular burgers on the menu. The secret's in his sauce!
"Homeroom Burger" Full Recipe
Chipotle Aioli Sauce:
3 large Eggs
Juice of two lemons
1 tablespoon of worestchire sauce
2 cloves garlic
1/2 tablespoon of paprika
3 tablespoons of chipotle in adobo
3 1/2 cups olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
Combine eggs, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, paprika, and chipotle and blend for two minutes. Slowly drizzle in a little bit of oil to start the emulsification process. Pause for about 30 seconds and then slowly stream in the rest of the oil. Once finished add honey and salt and pepper to taste and chill for 30 minutes.
Tipsy onions:
2 large red onions sliced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 tablespoon granulated garlic
Salt-and-pepper to taste
1/4 cup whiskey
Heat up olive oil in a skillet for two minutes medium high heat, add onions salt pepper and granulated garlic and cook for about 15 minutes until onions are caramelized. Pull off the heat and add whiskey, put back on the heat and continue to cook till all the alcohol has evaporated and has stopped flaming.
Building the Burger
Take a freshly ground brisket and Chuck Patty and Cook to your favorite temperature top with cheese and a sunny side up egg. Cover both sides of the toasted bun with chipotle aioli, place the Bacon on the bottom bun then cover with the tipsy onions place the burger with a fried egg on top and enjoy!
