HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Centerpoint crews are working on downed power lines in the Houston museum district after a big rig took out several telephone and power poles shortly after 10am.
According the crew on the scene, the 18-wheeler was southbound on Caroline when the top of the vehicle caught a telephone line, dragging the poles down as a result. No one was injured. The driver initially remained inside the cab of the vehicle out of concern that the lines may have been energized.
At least four poles were knocked down along Caroline between Southmore and Oakdale. Centerpoint says nearly 150 homes or businesses had their electricity impacted, but crews say nearly all the power has since been restored. Crews are working to get poles back up and re-string the wire.
