Donald Trump in LA day ahead of 2nd GOP debate

SAN PEDRO, CA (KTRK) -- Standing on board the historic battleship USS Iowa, the so-called "Ship of Presidents," Donald Trump received the endorsement of the political action committee Veterans For A Stronger America.

As protestors booed and chanted, "Dump Trump" in the parking lot adjacent to the warship turned museum, the current GOP front-runner began his address promised to break down the current Veterans Health Administration and provide better health care.

"We have illegal immigrants getting better care than our veterans," he said. "That's not going to happen." He said that if VA Hospitals don't do their jobs, then Trump said he wants to send veterans to private facilities and reimburse the doctors who treat them.

"We going to come out with some plans in a few weeks," he said of the military. "Our military will be so powerful and so strong we won't ever have to use it -- that I can tell you."

The crowd of roughly five hundred listened to what has been Trump's shortest speech to date. Lasting just 14 minutes for a program that allotted an hour, Trump thanked veterans for their support and said he has a big day tomorrow. Trump's campaign speech in Dallas Monday night was an roughly an hour.

The group hosting Trump tonight is best known for running advertisements in 2012 that were critical of President Barack of Obama, contending he took too much credit for the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.

Trump is in the Los Angeles area for Wednesday's second GOP presidential primary debate. He will be in the center podium for the prime time event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.
