DETROIT, MI (KTRK) -- A historic building in Detroit was imploded this morning.
The old Park Avenue Hotel crumbled after developers said the building had to come down to make way for the new Red Wings Arena and to boost the entertainment district.
Preservationists say they are sad to see the building go.
The hotel, opened in 1925, was a $2 million building that featured 250 rooms. It was destroyed just two months shy of its 90th anniversary.
