HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Cyclists are about to have a longer protected route through Downtown Houston.
You're likely familiar with the brightly-colored cycle track which runs from the Buffalo Bayou area, along Lamar over to Discovery Green. The new portion is still marked off while the City of Houston Publics Works Department completes it, but the next part of the Lamar Cycle Track will allow cyclists to ride around Discovery Green and into Eado.
We talked to Jessica Wiggins of BikeHouston about what this means for cyclists.
"Our city is changing, it's densifying, and we need different ways to get around downtown," said Wiggins,"when we need to get from meeting to meeting, maybe a lunch meeting."
The extension will open sometime after the first of the year.
